Rosalind "Rossy" Georgeson
Rossy grew up backstage at theatres all over the country. From eating hot apple pie and ice cream with John Rhys Davies in the Green Room at Liverpool to bouncing on trampolines in the Old Vic rehearsal rooms during rehearsals for the original Jumpers production! Best of all was being made assistant stage manager at Liverpool Playhouse (aged 10 years old) and being allowed to place her troll on stage for a performance of Hedda Gabla! Yes, having a dad who took the children on tour during the school holidays was great great fun! And it sealed Rossy's love of theatre with it's magical smell of promise and mystery, that all theatres possess. Rossy went on to join Questors Theatre in Ealing at a heady time in the 1970s when improvisation 'ruled' along with Pink Floyd! She completed her education with a Single Honours Degree in Drama at Aberystwyth University. Roles include Hermia in Midsummer Nights Dream, Lady Macbeth, Chorus in The Bacchae Edinburgh Festival, Grandmother in Bernada Alba, and Ariel in The Tempest, Orange Tree Theatre.
Rossy set up Dragon Drama in 1993 with an ethos to share the magic of theatre and to help children have no fear of failure. Rossy developed customised parties in 1993 sitting on the bedroom floor listening to children about what they wanted to happen in real life. All this went into the stories Rossy wrote for the Dragon Drama Customised parties. Over the last twenty one years Rossy has taken Dragon Drama into a variety of settings in order to 'spread the word' about creativity. From Libraries to Family Centres, from Private Nurseries to Schools, from Fairs to Festivals. Rossy has made it her life's work. Since 1993 Rossy has run all the workshops personally. She knows each child by name and glories in the individuality that each child brings to DD. It's a bit scary when some children start arriving as adults with their own children BUT WOW how great to be able to keep doing what you love to do best in the world. I've heard people say they have the best job in the world. But they don't! I Do!
